G’day, Clint here, though most of my clients and creative mates call me CJ. I spent more than 12 years working with my hands as a woodworker and cabinetmaker, building joinery, installing furniture and learning the value of quality, detail and getting things right. When I started running my own businesses, I also found myself juggling websites, marketing, socials, admin and everything else that comes with keeping a business moving, while somehow trying to squeeze design in around it all.
Fast forward and I taught myself design, studied IT, completed my Diploma of Graphic Design and built CJ Ink Designs around the same maker mindset I had carried with me for years. I realised pretty quickly that designers were everywhere, but a lot of what I found felt either too expensive, too formal or simply not suited to where I was at as a business owner.
I wanted someone who could understand the business as well as the brand. Someone professional, reliable and actually available when something came up. Someone who replied to an email, knew what I was trying to build and could get on with the job while I focused on the things I was actually good at.
That is the kind of designer I decided to become. Today, i work with established owner led service businesses where something has moved forward, but the way the business presents or explains itself hasn’t fully kept pace. That is usually where I would come in.
I help work out what needs to change, build a clearer and more professional brand system, and give you something you can actually understand, use and control. Then, when you need another campaign, presentation, piece of content, rollout asset or something completely different, I am still here and already know the business.
I still like the idea of being that helpful designer in your back pocket. The difference is, now there is a proper brand system behind it. And let me tell you, it is bloody handy having someone like that around because s#!t gets done.
